NORWICH — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy toured a Norwich linen supply and cleaning facility Thursday to tout his Second Chance Society 2.0 legislation, which works with the Department of Correction to employ ex-offenders.
Norwich — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy stepped off his tour of the Atlantic City Linen Supply on Thursday to ask a group of five women who were feeding pillow cases into a steam iron how they were doing. They smiled, said they were good and went back to work. The commercial laundry company, with six facilities that supply linens to casinos, hotels and other businesses in five states, is a "great example," Malloy said, of his administration's initiative to give second chances to those who get tangled up in the criminal justice system.

Employees from AC Linen's six East Coast locations participated in the American Heart Association's National Walking Day on April 1st. Besides getting a chance to get some fresh air during the workday, employees were urged to make walking a regular part of their routine throughout the workweek all year long.
AC Linen participated in Wear Red day on February 6th, 2015 to raise awareness for Heart Disease.
Eric Goldberg and his brother, Dan, were raised to do mitzvahs and to be mensches. As adults, they have carried these values through to their business. The brothers, who own Atlantic City Linen Supply, make a point of treating their employees like family and offering opportunities to people who traditionally have a hard time finding jobs— like those who are mentally or physically handicapped, or have recently finished a drug rehab program or prison term.

Atlantic City Linen Supply and Brady Linen Services have merged to serve the hospitality markets on the East Coast and in the Las Vegas area. The merger follows AC Linen’s early 2014 acquisition of Royal Hospitality Services, an outsourced hospitality linen service based in the Boston area. Between the three companies, 15 facilities are servicing the Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Boston, Atlantic City and Norwich, Conn., areas. A 16th facility will come online in the Bahamas this year.
NORWICH— State Senator Cathy Osten (D-Sprague), state Representative Kevin Ryan (D-Montville) and Norwich Mayor Deb Hinchey announced today that Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the State Bond Commission approved $1.6 million in state funds for various Norwich projects when it met today in Hartford.
Atlantic City Linen Supply LLC (ACLS), which expanded its business to Philadelphia in May, recently received a Business Leadership Award at JEVS Human Services’ annual Strictly Business luncheon. JEVS Human Services is a nonprofit organization that helps individuals with physical, developmental and emotional challenges enhance their employment prospects, independence and quality of life through a broad range of programs, according to local media reports.
In honor of A.C. Linen’s commitment to working with JEVS, the employment assistance organization honored the company with a Business Leadership Award on Oct. 31 at its annual Strictly Business luncheon, which was held in conjunction with October’s designation as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
JEVS Human Services last week honored two individuals and a company with local ties at its 16th annual Strictly Business Awards luncheon, held at the Sheraton hotel in Center City. Also honored was Atlantic City Linen Supply, nominated by JEVS hireAbility. A commercial linen company specializing in serving the hotel industry, AC Linen offers second chances to individuals, a commitment that is on par with JEVS’ mission to enhance the employability, independence and quality of life of people. The company hires from JEVS’ Welfare to Work and hireAbility programs, hosts job clubs for those with disabilities and modifies jobs to provide accommodations and benefits for those who may have challenges in their abilities. The firm has an extremely high retention rate. Over the last year, it has hired 13 JEVS clients, many of whom work in the company’s South Philadelphia warehouse.
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — October is Disability Employment Awareness Month, and on Friday a Philadelphia non-profit honored companies that hire individuals with challenges, as well as those employees who have overcome them. Business honorees include AC Linen Supply and Allan A Myers.
On Wednesday, October 15 at Northeastern University’s Fenway Center, Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh and MA Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development Rachel Kaprielian will join English for New Bostonians and its English Works Campaign in honoring 20 Massachusetts businesses and labor-management partnerships for one common achievement — they all recognize the importance of helping their workers learn English. Ranging from supermarkets to health centers, hotels to manufacturing plants, the businesses will receive an ESOL Certificate of Recognition in a ceremony at Northeastern’s Fenway Center in Boston.
Governor Tom Corbett today announced nearly $4 million in Alternative Fuel Incentive Grants (AFIG) to 33 local governments, non-profit organizations and companies making the switch to compressed natural gas (CNG), propane, or electric, for medium to light-weight fleet vehicles.
